Brave New World [2007]

„Brave New World“ empfinde ich nach wie vor als mein stärkstes Konzeptalbum. Es vereint viele Ideen aus der finalen Phase mit ETHNOdELIC – darunter Songs, die wir noch gemeinsam auf der Bühne feierten, und andere, die über das Stadium von Proberaum oder Demotapes nie hinausgekommen waren. Mit „Secrets“ findet sich sogar ein Stück auf dem Album, das ich bereits in den 80er-Jahren für meine damalige Band „L.A.W.“ geschrieben hatte. Inspiriert von Huxleys berühmter Dystopie, reflektiert das Album die Zeitqualität zur Jahrtausendwende. Viele der damaligen Fragen sind heute aktueller denn je. Oder anders gesagt: Was damals nur als dunkle Vorahnung im Raum stand, ist in der Gegenwart zur bitteren Realität geworden.

I still consider “Brave New World” to be my strongest concept album. It combines many ideas from the final phase with ETHNOdELIC—including songs that we celebrated together on stage and others that never made it past the rehearsal room or demo tape stage. „Secrets“ is even a song on the album that I wrote back in the 80s for my band at the time, „L.A.W.“ Inspired by Huxley’s famous dystopia, the album reflects the spirit of the times at the turn of the millennium. Many of the questions asked back then are more relevant today than ever. Or to put it another way: what was then only a dark premonition has become a bitter reality in the present.
